Ex: It was raining hard when I got there.
(Khi tôi đến đó trời đang mưa rất to.)
They arrived at the station after the train had left.

He slammed the door as he went out.
(Khi anh ta đi ra, anh ta đóng sầm cửa lại.)
I had no sooner closed the door than somebody knocked.
(Tôi vừa đóng cửa thì lại có người gõ cửa.)
Would you follow me wherever I went?
(Em sẽ đi theo anh đến bất cứ nơi nào chứ?)
By the time I arrived, they had already left.
(Lúc tôi đến, họ đã đi rồi.)
